Fawaz has almost 20 years’ experience as senior portfolio manager and risk-taker with a significant focus on credit, convertibles and fixed-income strategies across Europe and Asia
For 5 years, Fawaz was the senior-most decision maker at CQS in Hong Kong and Head of Asia Investments with responsibility for well more than $750mm in GMV, 5 investment professionals and reporting directly the founder. At CQS HK, Fawaz traded and managed all investments across the full capital structure, with a major focus on distressed opportunities. Fawaz was a lead investor on the committees that negotiated and restricted Kaisa Properties and Shanshui Cement
Prior to CQS, Fawaz founded and ran the credit business at $13bn aum Value Partners in Hong Kong where he personally oversaw >$500m in credit-related investments across the firm
Fawaz spent 8 years at JP Morgan, where as Head of Equity Proprietary Trading and later as Head of Equity-linked Trading generated large gains from the GM crisis in March 2005 and the Amaranth blow-up in August 2006
PhD in Engineering from Columbia University, Master’s in Engineering from Hiroshima University, and Bachelor’s in Engineering from the American University of Beirut
Alexis Kwon has over 15 years experience as a senior credit specialist focusing on special situations and distressed opportunities across the Asia Pacific region
Alexis joined as Head of Asia Special Situations at CQS Hong Kong in 2017 after spending 6 years at Sculptor Capital (a.k.a. Och Ziff Capital) where she managed the Asian special situations investing, including identifying opportunities, leading restructuring negotiations and trading. She invested in multiple asset classes across the investment cycle, including public and private debt and corporate restructuring
Before 2011, she worked at Strategic Value Partners in Greenwich Connecticut, where she specialized in US distressed debt investment in private equity with long term investment horizon. She began her career in Leveraged Finance at JP Morgan, Hong Kong
Alexis holds a BA in French from Seoul National University as well as a BS in Finance, magna cum laude, from Georgetown University, D.C.
